Life in the Stacks: A Library Drama Part 55
“I think that’s a question only Grayson can answer,” Carly said, eyeing Grayson. “Do we have an understanding?”
Grayson gave a quick nod and fled the library. He held his breath until he exited the building. He knew he couldn’t erupt at that stupid youth librarian or he’d be banned from the library. Being able to access the library was the only way he was going to stay close to Angel. Everything was working out as planned until Carly had gotten in the way. Why did she have to be so nosey?
He should go right back in there and take them all down. He kicked the metal trash can and concentrated on the pain surging through his middle toe. Pain was good. Pain was the only thing that would calm him and he knew he must remain calm. Lashing out now would only ruin his plan.
He sat on the bench and slipped off his shoe, examining his toe. He could only imagine what that excuse for a woman was saying to Angel right now. Was she telling Angel about the note? That he had been the one to make the phone call? He knew both had been foolish, but he couldn’t help himself. He had to let Angel know where she belonged and that was with him, and only him.
Grayson shook his head. Carly might have her suspicions, but she had no proof that he had done anything. She would be watching him now, making sure Angel was “safe”. Ignorant woman, Angel was only safe with him. But there was no way Carly would be able to understand that. No one understood.
He would have to act tonight. Before Carly could alert others to what was going on, before she found proof and ruined everything.
