Movie Review: Beastly
Beastly, the movie based on the book by Alex Flinn came out on DVD this week and luckily my handy dandy Netflix sent it to me. Now I'll admit I haven't read the book, yet, but I was pretty excited to get the movie. I'm a sucker for a good romantic twist on a classic. Unfortunately, I was greatly disappointed in this movie.First, the acting was sub par and the script writing was terrible. I often wonder if script writers dumb it down when writing for "teen flicks". The thought actually makes me sad. In that same respect, there was no conflict either, no sense of urgency for the couple to get together. Of course, that could've been because it was all so terribly predictable that you knew they were going to get together from the beginning. Even when they did get together it was hard to rejoice because there was absolutely no chemistry between the two characters.
I give this movie 2 stars and that's only because Neil Patrick Harris has a few zingers that made me laugh out loud, but they were few and far between. Maybe if you're sitting alone on a Saturday and this movie just so happens to be on for free it would be worth watching. But personally I'd just shut off the TV and go read the book, it has to be better.

I think it’s brilliant how they show that how a person feels about themselves for their worth as a person is far more important than how they feel about the way they look on the outside. Kyle developed character in this movie that is a great example to everyone that watches it and I would highly recommend it. When I came across this on Blockbuster’s website I thought “hey, this looks great” but I couldn’t find the message by the end other than don’t be afraid of failing. Honestly the only redeeming quality is that the movie was free because I got my 3 month subscription to DVD’s by mail from Blockbuster as a new DISH Network customer. http://bit.ly/jYtohY Even though I’m an employee of DISH I still got the free membership.
