Perfect by Ellen Hopkins
"Everyone has something, someone, somewhere else that they'd rather be. For four high school seniors, their goals of perfections are just as different as the paths they take to get there. A riveting and startling companion to the best-selling Impulse, Ellen Hopkins's Perfect exposes the harsh truths about what it takes to grow up and grow into our own skins--our own selves. Everyone wants to be perfect, but when perfection loses its meaning, how far will you go? What would you give up to be perfect?"It's been awhile since I've been a teenager; but I would define it as a time when you are trying to get comfortable in your own skin. It is a time when one is tormented by the expectations of others. This book focuses on four characters who are each having a unique struggle with perfection. I love Hopkins verse style of writing and how she delves into sensitive topics with a style that tells things as they really are. She is real and candid.
This is a must read for young adults who are dealing with the frustrating issues of life. And even though this may not be your cup of tea as far as the style of writing, I think you will relate to the characters and understand that you are not the only one out there who is trying to be "perfect" and failing somewhat.
