A Month of Sundays by Ruth White

This book, A Month of Sundays by Ruth White, is one that I couldn't put down until I had read the very last page!  It takes place in a quaint rural community during the mid 1950's with strong memorable characters who are faced with difficult decisions.
The main character, a fourteen-year-old girl named Garnet, was deserted by her Dad before she was born and raised solely by her Mom.  Often the two of them have struggled to make ends meet.  Things change drastically as her mother decides to move to Florida and leaves her with relatives of her father whom she has never met.  At this point Garnet feels abandoned and very alone.
It doesn't take long for Garnet to realize that life in Black River is not that bad at all.  She joins in the search with her Aunt June to find God and in the process meets Silver Shepherd, a fifteen year old youth minister and the cutest boy this side of heaven!
Suddenly a tragic event occurs that rocks the world of this teen girl and she questions why something like this could possibly happen.  This book will make you laugh, cry, and delight in the theme that love conquers all.  I absolutely loved this heartwarming story that reminded me that even through there is tragedy and difficulties in this life, miracles still happen.
Check out this book found in the Young Adult section of Youth Services at the BPL!!
